Term Limits
Just as we as American citizens hold the President to term limits, we should also hold our Senators and Congress to the same standards. I can promise that if elected, I will work to put forth bills that would limit Senators to two terms (12 years) and those in Congress to four terms (8 years). While I know this will be an uphill battle, I will work diligently to make this happen. I can say this with certainty, if I cannot get a bill passed to have term limits in place. I will not be hypocritical and stay in Congress more than four terms.
Open Door Policy
Yes, I am a Republican, but first and foremost I am an American citizen. I will represent all individuals within my District as American citizens regardless of party affiliation. If we truly want change and create a better America, we need to be able to listen and learn from each other. I will listen and respond to all individuals I represent. I am not narrow minded to believe that I have all the answers, but if we work together as American people than we can accomplish great things.
Working Together
I believe that in order for America to move forward towards our potential, we need both parties to compromise on nonessential items. When I look at the National debt, I find it difficult to understand that neither side has created a solution to this enormous problem. I know that if Americans ran their households like the Government, then we the people would be homeless and have nothing to our names. Those in both the Senate and Congress need to come together to find a solution. Yes, that will unfortunately require some social programs to be cut back while some more well off companies might have to pay more in taxes to help alleviate the burden so that it does not all fall on the poor and working middle class.
